The Czech Chamber of Architects presented thirty-three works, which are bidding for the Czech Prize for Architecture in 2018. Among the nominees are three office projects: the Vault42 in Olomouc, the multifunctional building Dorn in Brno and the administrative building in Strančice near Prague. The Main Prize winner and the other finalists will be announced on the November 19th at the gala evening at the Karlín Forum.
Vault 42 is a coworking center unusually located in the classicist building of military bakery surrounded by ivy. It is designed for professionals in IT, marketing, advertising and design. The work environment is divided into four zones: quiet, busy, presentation and social.
Multifunctional building Dorn is located close to the Brno Central Station and the Vaňkovka Shopping Gallery. The brick walling follows the historical Vaňka machine shop as well as the new shopping centre. It is the largest building with a suspended brick cladding in the Czech Republic.
Administrative building in Strančice
The administrative building of the company that distributes and produces concrete mixtures is built exclusively as a concrete cast. The concrete of various structures is on the floor, ceilings, walls, the building itself, including the roof, it is poured out of the thermal insulation concrete without any other tiling and typical finishing works.
