This week #MORETHANOFFICE—a lifestyle e-magazine about modern offices—is celebrating its third birthday. To celebrate, the portal has treated itself to a site redesign, and it’s planning to start distribution over a special office mobile app.
Not even today’s coronavirus times are going to mean an end to the office. Even though employees today generally can’t come into their offices physically, they at least do so virtually. And we can see that in the increased interest in #MORETHANOFFICE online magazine. Since November of 2017, this magazine has been mapping the latest office projects worldwide via photo galleries and reportages and providing interviews with leading architects and designers, inspiration in the form of the latest hi-tech innovations in office buildings, and more.
“This year, 81 percent more unique users came to the website, and the growth in page views is 54 percent (comparing Jan–Oct 2018 with the same period in 2020). By now, more than 150,000 unique visitors have reached the #MORETHANOFFICE website (including 304 from Peru, 72 from Indonesia, and 35 from Morocco),” confirms the project’s head editor, Lukáš Rozmajzl from the FirstFloor creative agency.
This was our B-day cake prepared for the launch of the project in 2017.

This project is a part of the content marketing strategy for the real estate developer Skanska. Its content is provided by FirstFloor. “We try to include a little something extra in each of our office buildings, no matter whether that’s a running track on the roof or, say, a smart hive on a terrace. That’s why, over three years back, we launched the unique #MORETHANOFFICE media project, so that we could share inspiration and educate the market on the latest trends while entertaining our readers too. And last but not least, so we could enjoy our articles in-house as well. We’re also successfully finding other marketing synergies—we added a part of our web content this year as a “dessert” alongside a cookbook that we published this spring,” notes Petra Machartová, Corporate Marketing Manager, Skanska Commercial Development Europe.
A Redesign & Apps
This spring, #MORETHANOFFICE gave itself a gift for its third birthday: a redesign of its website. The main goal of these changes—the work of the Honewa graphics studio—was to make the articles easier to navigate and more attractive to read on mobile.
And Skanska would like to make even greater use of the mobile route for distribution in the future. They’re the first developer on the market to have furnished a Prague office building (specifically Corso Court in the Karlín district) with a custom-developed mobile app for its users. Skanska then installed its Connected by Skanska operating system for smart buildings into the majority of its new projects in the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, and Romania. “We are considering connecting #MORETHANOFFICE to these apps, so as to make its web content available to thousands more users. By doing this, we would be creating Central Europe’s very first office media project,” says Machartová of Skanska’s future plans.
In 2019 we released the second printed issue of #MORETHANOFFICE magazine. Take a look at 56 pages online HERE.
The #MORETHANOFFICE project has already earned several awards, formal and informal. The launch of the portal in November 2017 was joined by the premier issue of a printed version, with a run of over 1,000 copies (online preview here), which later won the bronze in the Best Company Media contest. “Meanwhile, thanks to our portal’s name, we were nominated into the 'More Than Advertising' Facebook group, and certain sites in the field began copying our content—which we appreciate a lot,” notes Rozmajzl.
If this year’s massive test of working from home by a large part of the world’s population has shown anything, it’s that people need offices to maintain social bonds, for collaborative work, to support company culture, and more. In fact, in a June PwC survey, a full half of the companies in the USA expect that their office spaces will grow in the next three years. “It seems that office layouts will change in the future, and major adjustments to them may await us. But everything is veiled in uncertainty. What’s certain, however, is that you’ll learn about every new trend fast at www.morethanoffice.eu,” concludes FirstFloor’s Lukáš Rozmajzl.
