Two years ago, the IT company Tieto moved its headquarters to the new Keilalahti Campus administration building (in the city of Espoo in southern Finland). Since then they have built it up into one of the smartest offices in Scandinavia. Up to eight thousand sensors watch literally every employee’s trajectories. According to the vision laid out in the promotional video, very soon workdays will be organized through a special mobile app—it will show you the best route to work, automatically open the garage door, make your favorite latte even before you step out of the elevator, and automatically turn on your computer when you walk up to it...
Back in 2015 Daniel Puglisi, a Swiss designer and web developer, just finished setting up his own “minimalist" home office desk and he was curious about how other people set up their personal workspaces. “But after some quick Google searches I didn’t came across anything useful. So I decided to take things into my own hands,” he said. That's the origin of DeskHunt.com - a website where inspirational workspaces meet stories about focus, ergonomics and self improvement. “I’m on a journey on finding the most inspirational desks and people behind them,” describes Daniel. The year 2017 brought five times more administrative centers than there were built in a previous year. According to KPMG Czech Republic there were only 33.000 square metres of new offices finished in 2016. "We assume that in 2017 and in 2018 the numbers will get back to a usual level of 160.000 square metres per year," said Pavel Kliment from KPMG CZ.
